Hey everyone! Gonna try a little experiment here. The post that chriswhite12 made the other day regarding the price reduction for select 3DS games got me thinking that it might be nice to keep a running list of good game deals here. So, the intent here is not for people to post every sale or freebie under the sun. Preferably, it'd be nice to fit one or more of these criteria: - Deals on games that particularly interest the person who posts them
- Deals on games that the poster feels will interest members of this community in particular
- Very significant deals (free big-name games, 90% off, etc.)
Of course, if a deal doesn't fit into one of these categories quite right, but you still feel as though we should know about it, go ahead and post it. Ideally, your post should include the name of the game (duh), the regular price, the sale price, and any further relevant information, such as sale period, required sale codes, etc. If it's a digital product, don't forget to provide a link to the item. For physical items, it would be nice to see a link to the announcement or a related website. And feel free to write a quick blurb about the game - a brief synopsis, why you like the game, reasons for posting it, something like that. I would also recommend that anyone who frequents reddit subscribe to /r/GameDeals to keep up-to-date on more sales and free games!

Aaaaand here's the first deal! Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of StalingradPlatform: PC (Steam) Price: $9.99 FREE So, apparently this game is being released for free for a 24 hour period starting today, April 23. If you navigate here, the developer has made a Steam Community post regarding the freebie. The sale hasn't started yet, as far as I can see, but we can expect it to go live any time now. The developer is following this up with a free weekend of the standalone expansion pack of RO2, Rising Storm. Realistic, tactical FPS games are not usually my bag. Besides my childhood playing DOOM and teenage years of Goldeneye 007, I have very little and only recent experience playing first-person shooters. After reading some reviews and watching some gameplay footage, I feel like this might be a game worth trying for me. And hey, free is a pretty awesome price. EDIT: The 24 deal just went live within the past hour. Assuming you have already registered for and logged into a Steam account, point your browser here and choose Install Game, and the game should be attached to your account!

I'm not a fan of FPS games usually, but downloading this to try it out. Because free >_<
Edit: Seems like an alright game. Had headphones in so I didn't notice that it was over heating my laptop like something sick. So chances are I will not be playing it <_<

Nintendo has revealed that anyone that purchases Mario Kart 8 and registers it with Club Nintendo by July 31, 2014 will get their choice of a free Wii U game download! And we're not talking a piddly little third party game, either. The choices on offer are: - New Super Mario Bros. U
- Pikmin 3
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
- Wii Party U
So, no small potatoes here! I've also created a thread dedicated to this deal, so check it out and chip in your two cents on the deal over there! Link to news item

Alright, PC gaming master race. gog.com is running their Spring Insomnia Sale right now. As near as I can tell, they put up a single game on sale at a time for up to 90% off the regular price with limited quantities available for purchase. Apparently there's also a chance for free games! I expect that with everyone rushing in at the same time to buy a hot game, there's the chance for some downtime, but it may be worth the frustration. In the time it took for me to write and format this post, 4 or 5 games have come and gone. So get in while the getting's good!

GUNPOINT is now on sale on steam for $2.50! It recently got updated, and it now has steam workshop for user-created levels, along with a new engine! Sweet mother of Canada Dry! Buy it now. Thanks Steve! The problem with a 200+ Steam library is that I always forget what I already own; I thought I already had this game! And while you're at it, throw down a loonie for Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers, a physics platformer where you cut big chunks of rock with laser and drag 'em around with a grappling hook while you hunt down the scoundrel who stole your grandfather's magic underwear! Got an extra buck fitty? I highly recommend the soundtrack. Imagine yourself driving around the dusty Nevada desert, circa 1973, with nothing but a shoddy AM set in your old puke green El Camino and a handful of pirate radio frequencies. Or just go listen to it here, and then buy it. I personally recommend The Cromagnon Band's Lusitania and 3 Body Problem's Thoroughbred. Cheggidout.

Got a new deal, and this one's a physical! Although it's not technically a game, I think accessories count, too! Turtle Beach Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming HeadsetPlatform: Optimized for PS3, works with PS4, PC, and Mac Price: $59.95 $30.00 Links: Amazon.ca, Turtle BeachHappened to be at my local Target today, and, as usual, I was scanning the electronics department for neat deals. I'd been eyeing the gaming headsets for awhile to replace my $10 basic Logitech mic for my PC. Turns out, there's a deep unmarked discount on this headset. While I've seen it on Amazon.ca for as low as $45, I was pretty excited by a 50% price drop. Reviews for the P11 seem overall quite positive, although a few users have noted that the build quality is a little fragile, particularly where the cord meets any hardware (I'm naturally careful with my equipment, so this is a non-issue for me). On getting the unit home, I immediately plugged it into my PC to test it out. Note that there are two cables to plug in - a standard 3.5 mm headphone connector for audio out, and a USB connector for audio in and volume controls. The cable is nice and long (12'), and includes a velcro tie; however, you'd better hope that your headphone jack is within a foot of a free USB port, as those cables are split pretty close to the ends. The audio is crisp and clear, although the higher frequencies are represented a little heavily for my personal taste; I easily fixed this using Windows' built-in equalizer. Unfortunately, Windows 7 didn't seem to set my default audio devices correctly, so you may need to adjust your audio settings; once I got them right, the inline control worked like a charm. I haven't had the chance to test the mic quality much yet, but preliminaries are promising. I don't really play PS3 or PS4 games online, so I probably won't be able to offer insight on the P11's uses there, but the instructions for console setup seem pretty idiot-proof. All in all, I think thirty bucks for a mid-level headset by a big brand is a pretty sweet deal. Looked like there were a handful left at the Target in St. John's, so if you're in need of a new headset, might not be a bad idea to head down and grab one.

Humble Indie Bundle 12Platform: Windows/Mac/Linux Price: Pay What You Want (further details below) It's back! Odd as it sounds, the numbered iterations of the Humble Indie Bundle are up there with the Steam sales for my favourite game deals. Even though I've already owned 50% or more of the titles available in recent bundles, I'll still always pick mine up, if only for the donation to the worthy devs and the charities. So, for those of you not familiar with Humble Indie Bundle, here goes: the bundle launches and runs for a couple of weeks (might be two every time, not sure). On offer is, at its core, high-quality indie games. You can pay whatever you want for what I'll call the "basic set," which is usually 3 or 4 of the games featured. Even a penny will get you a handful of games! Then we introduce the tiering system. Anything less than a dollar nets you DRM-free versions of the basic set, but *gasp* no Steam keys! Pay $1 USD or more to get DRM-free downloads AND Steam keys (where applicable) for the basic set (and any tiers above that). The next tier is the "beat-the-average set," which is obtained by - surprise! - beating the average price paid by everyone who's bought the bundle up to that point. I find this tends to hover somewhere between $5 and $10 for most of the life of the bundle, depending on big donation purchases by celebrity figures like Notch or large groups such as reddit, and the inevitable skeezy low-ballers dropping loonies for piles of keys to resell on less-than-reputable game sites. But I digress. Paying greater than the current average nets you DRM-free downloads and Steam keys of the basic set, plus a pile of additional content. At the launch of the bundle, this will usually double your games. HOWEVER, as the Bundle continues, additional games will be unlocked and become available to those who have paid above the average already, to those who increase their donation to match or exceed the current average, or to anyone who donates above the average up until the end of the promotion. Depending on the popularity of these games, the average can shoot up rather quickly as people dive in to grab hot games for considerably less than the market rate. Finally, we'll sometimes see additional tiers offering content at fixed donation amounts. This may includes games that retail WELL above the tier limit, and physical rewards. Oh, I almost forgot, soundtracks are also available at various tiers! Your donation is by default split to dole out predetermined amounts to the various developers, the charities (which I believe are always Child's Play and Electronic Frontier Foundation in the numbered HIBs), and the Humble Tip, which pays for bandwidth and development of the promotion. You can completely customize the allocation of your donation, perhaps leaving some devs out in the cold while showering others with shiny pennies, or shifting a little bit more money to the charities. You can either make a one-time donation, or you can create a Humble Bundle account and link all of your purchased Bundles together for easy key retrieval. Already own a game in the bundle? Humble Bundle now allows you the option to gift any or all of your Steam keys to other Steam users, just click on the little gift box to the right of your Steam key while viewing the contents of your bundle! SO. For this particular bundle, the tiers are as follows: Basic Set Beat-The-Average Set ($7.91 as of 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10)
$10 Unlock$65 Unlock- Humble Indie Bundle 12 Entertainment System (near as I can tell, everything is completely exclusive)
- Collector's Box
- Humble Indie Bundle Informer Magazine, special issue
- Humble Indie Bundle 12 Super Shirt
- Humble Indie Bundle Logo Pin
- Papers, Please Arstotzka Crest Pin
- Humble Indie Bundle 12 EP, Vinyl
- Humble Indie Bundle 12 Shareware 3.5" Floppy Disk
[/ul]
I won't bother promoting each individual game, soundtrack, or ridiculous pack of awesome. I've linked the relevant information, and I think I've typed enough. Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this bundle to anyone. Even if the best you can afford right now is a couple of bucks, you'll still walk away with a bare minimum of three great indie games and some sweet tunes, and will have helped promote hard-working devs and boosted worthwhile charities in the process. Fair warning, though. These things can get kind of, well... addictive. BONUS: Trying to pay less than a dollar? Prepare to feel guilty. [/div][/div][/div]

Done! I love Humble Bundles! They even let you choose what your money goes towards, amount for charity, devs and/or HB itself!
