I'm just gonna throw out some ideas to see what happens. Maybe they'll work for a Carnival, or the Expo, or something else entirely.
We could do a relay, where you have to do something in one game to move on to the next. There could be two sets of set-ups, so there'd be two competing teams (I reckon anything more than that would get too cumbersome, but if you guys have a better way, I'm all ears). The competition would happen in real-time, so you can see how the teams are progressing. Perhaps something to do during the next Olympics or other sporting thing?
I'd like to see a tournament of 5-turn Marioparty games. Top two advance, and when you get to four at the top, the winner of that game is the winner.
I'm going to call this next idea a Legacy Tournament. Take a game that has a significant number of iterations, and progress through the series as you get through the tournament. For example: first round everyone plays SNES Mariokart. The ones who move on compete in Mariokart 64. Those who are left advance to Double Dash, and so on. Wii can play all these games, so we wouldn't necessarily need a lot of consoles to pull it off.
What do you guys think? Maybe a song & dance day, with stuff like Just Dance, DDR, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc? That could happen during a Salmon Fest or other such event, or with a new season of one of those Idol shows or So You Think You Can Dance, or during the Expo, or we could do it just because.
What other sorts of things can we do that will switch things up?
